The latest news about Covid-19 pandemic in UK was given by Prof. Sarah Walker, Professor of Medical Statistics and Epidemiology at Oxford University, and Chief Investigator on the Office for National Statistics Covid-19 Infection Survey, said that Britain had ‘moved from a pandemic to an endemic situation’ where the virus is circulating at a low, largely controllable level in the community.
The new research, based on throat swabs from 373,402 people between December 1 last year and April 3, found three weeks after one dose of either the Pfizer or AstraZeneca jab, symptomatic infections fell by 74 per cent and infections without symptoms by 57 per cent.
By two doses, asymptomatic infections were down 70 per cent and symptomatic by 90 per cent.
It comes as infections continue to fall in Britain, dropping seven per cent in a week, despite the reopening of schools. Deaths have also fallen by 26 per cent and admissions by 19 per cent over the last seven days.
This is for sure the best news we heard since March last year. Obviously, it is not really over as yet, but at least we can now see real light at the end of the tunnel.
We need to remain vigilant, follow instructions, and get vaccinated. We can now very strongly look forward and start thinking about holidays, parties, celebrations in style, and even attend football matches !!.
Let us start dreaming again, and let the optimism return to our hearts. Let us start feeling happy again and feel realistically now that we will soon be allowed again to shake hands, to hug, and to kiss without the ghostic shadows of Covid, the Waghed !!.
Enjoy the blue skies of Spring, and remain very hopeful. Tomorrow is going to be better than today. If not tomorrow, then the day after… beeee happyyyyyyy !.
